1) We need to known what is Vmware Vsphere?
Vmware is a company name.Vsphere is a Software suite of application designed for optimizing and managing enterprise datacenters through virtualization.
Our IT Infrastructure-
IT infrastructure refers to the composite hardware, software, network resources and services required for the existence, operation and management of an enterprise IT environment like
1.Server
2.Desktop
3.Storage
4.Network
5.Applications
One Server for One Service like we are using
1.Active Directory in one server,
2.Exchange server in one server,
3.Database Server,
4.File Server,
5.Web Server.
we are using more servers today in big company.
To maintenance more servers we need more space,money,power & network cables.
one server is utility his cpu 10% only remaining 65% is going waste of it.for that reasons Virtualization.
What is Virtualization ?
Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as an operating system, a server, a storage device or network resources.
To Maintenance--: Less Hardware,less power,less cables & less space it reduces 40 % of saving.
History Of Virtualization:-
The ideas come in 1960's but they implemented the virtualization in the year 1970's.when IBM invested a lot of time and effort in developing robust time-sharing solutions.The first company successfully using virtualization in IBM Mainframe Platform.The x86 (32bit) is also successfully completed in the experiment but all work fine but in the production it not come.
TECHNOLOGY
If virtualization is defined as enabling multiple operating systems to run on a single host computer, then the essential component in the virtualization stack is the hypervisor.
Technology behind the virtualization is called a hypervisor.
X86 architecture has two type of hypervisor.
1)Bare metal: type one server are installed directly installed on the servers
Examples:Vmware Vsphere
Microsoft-Hyper-V
Oracle-Oracle Vm
Citrix- Xen Server
2)Hosted:Type Two hypervisor are installed in already run OS.
Examples: Vmware- workstation,fusion
Oracle-Virtual Box
Microsoft- Hyper-V Virtual pc's
