Reclaiming disk space from thin provisioned VMDK files on ESXi 6.5 & 6.7

Reclaiming disk space from thin provisioned VMDK files on ESXi (2136514) Virtual Machines (VM) using thin provisioned disk do not see size decrease after deleting files from the Guest Operating System.  Deleting data from Guest OS only removes the data from the file allocation table but does not zero the blocks. As a result, the ESXi Host still sees the blocks in use even after deleting the data. Reclaiming disk space is a two steps process The first step is to delete the blocks on the Guest Operating System then reclaim space on the VMFS datastore. Be sure to follow the bellow steps in order. Step 1: Delete the blocks on the Guest OS Windows Operating System Download SDelete Command Line Tool available at  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/sdelete Note:  SDelete -z will cause the guest OS to use up 100% of the available space disk during this process while zeroing free space. This will lead to a temporary increase in used space on the datastore. Open an elevated

Hi friends today we are going discuses about the Vsphere HA Virtual Machine Monitoring error. This is one of a series of KB articles that provide information about default vSphere alarms for virtual machines . Assisted to run the Mongodb installation from the software cache. Confirmed that the size is decreased and we have enough space on the C drive. Previously it was 15 GB free space and now it as 106 GB free space. Installmongodb.log file was increasing day by day

why in Vmware Vsphere Storage usage Showing Full while using the Thin provision also? Total allocated space is 1.5TB. In the below screenshot we are seeing that the total storage space was used by vm.  In the vm we are seeing that the C:\drive free and E:\drive free space. Soultion:- Login into the VM. Click the server manager and browse to Tools and select the  Defragment and Optimize Drives. Select the Drive and click the Optimize button and wait for to Complete 100%. we can create a schedule optimization to drive to select the change settings option. Run on a schedule frequency Weekly I Selected and Drives i selected is C and E and OK. we need to wait for while to reflect this in VMware Vsphere.

503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint)

Image
Hi Friends, IT was mainly two type of issues  1. Services not Started  2. Certificate issue Steps we need to perform to resolve this:- Checked the certs SSL and STS were valid Restarted the services. Service was stuck in vapi-endpoint Services-control --start --all and services-control --stop --all Checked vapi/endpoint logs shows No subject alternative name matching IP address. log files location :- C:\ProgramData\vCenterServer\logs\vapi\endpoint.log As PNID was IP address we need to update IP address. PNID = the  system name (FQDN or IP address) is used as the PNID. Followed the KB  https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2112283?lang=en_us   Re-generated the SSL certs updated the IPaddress and hostname to IP address (Hostname always should be PNID) Command to check PNID is mentioned in the KB. Windows :   "C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\vmafdd\vmafd-cli.exe" get-pnid --server-name localhost https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2130599
