SWITCH HUB AND ROUTER

Switch

·         Switch is Data link layer 2 device.

·         Switch is intelligent device.

·         Many Collision Domain

·         One Broadcast Domain.

·         In layer 2 main frames.

·         In networks a device that filters and forwards packets between Lan segments.

·         A switch send ARP request to all computers and get the mac address and Ip address of all device connect to the switch.

·         A switch received a frame it known exactly which port to send it.

·         Increase network response time.

Hub

·         Hub is physical layer 1 device.

·         Hub is non-intelligent device.

·         One collision Domain

·         One Broadcast domain.

·         A hub is a common connection point for devices in a network.

·         A hub contains multiple ports.

·         When a packet arrives at one port, it is copied to the other ports so that all segments of the LAN can see all packets
Router

·        A router is layer 3 device. It sends packets.
·        A router is the more intelligent device all of them.
·        A router have many collision Domains
·        Many broadcast Domain.
·        A router records the address information of everything connected to it like a switch. But it also records the address of the next closest router in the network.
·        A router is a gateway.
·        This is how data moves onto, and through, the Internet. Routers are also capable of looking at the source address of a data packet and making decisions based on that as well. This means they can tell the difference between traffic that originates on your network and traffic that comes from outside.
·        A router can protect you from attacks in ways that no hub/switch ever could.
A router send packets  to outside throw internet
